Meet Elena Flaharty, Founder of Rise Above Equestrian

With over 30 years of riding, teaching, and competitive experience, Elena Flaharty brings a lifetime of horsemanship, classical training, and mentorship to every horse and rider she works with.

As a USDF Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medalist with a diverse background in both dressage and eventing, Elena has trained and shown from Training Level through Grand Prix and competed successfully through Preliminary Level eventing. Her teaching style blends classical principles with encouraging, positive instruction—creating an environment where horse and rider can grow confidently and successfully.

For more than two decades, Elena has taught riders of all ages and skill levels, drawing from her extensive Pony Club background and her broad experience across disciplines. She believes deeply in thoughtful, horse-first training and the art of building balanced, willing partnerships.

Elena remains a dedicated student of the sport, continuing her own education through regular lessons and clinics with respected professionals across the dressage and eventing communities. Rise Above Equestrian is the culmination of her lifelong passion for learning, teaching, and helping riders achieve their goals with clarity, kindness, and excellence.
